Do you have a startup business you would like to pitch to investors and looking for a place to practice?

VANTEC Pitch Circuit is a pitch practice forum and competition, where an esteemed feedback panel and audience view up to 10 90-second pitch presentations by entrepreneurs on their businesses.

Top three presenters, voted by peers and panels, will be given an opportunity to present in front of real angel investors and investor groups on March 7 at VANTEC Angel Network.

This event is a special event, in conjunction with New Westminster Innovation Week and have ample of opportunity to network with key players in New Westminster. 

This event is free for anyone to attend thanks to the City of New Westminster and fellow community sponsors.

Panelists:

Jim McIntosh (Executive Chairman, AdPerfect)
Jim McIntosh is a serial entrepreneur having spent over 20 years in the technology business, primarily as a CEO. He successfully grows technology companies and has a proven track record in raising money through private and public financings. Jim has led a local New Westminster software company, AdPerfect, as Executive Chairman since February 2016. He creates shareholder value by building outstanding senior management teams and working with them to define, communicate, and executing on strategic corporate direction. Jim has served as President and CEO of Sense Tecnic Systems, Locator Systems, Infowave Software, GDT Softworks and VP Strategic Initiatives for INETCO Systems Ltd. before joining AdPerfect.

Mark Betteridge (Angel investor)
Mark Betteridge is an angel investor in early stage technology firms including biotechnology, medical devices, food processing, advanced building management and construction systems, big data, green tech and parallel/serial computing. Mark Betteridge & Associates (MBA) Inc. has seen more than one successful exit including publicly traded X-Biotech (34X). MBA has been the successful contractual manager of Discovery Parks and Discovery Foundation in British Columbia (www.discoveryparks.com) and is now investing in multi-family development projects.  Mark is a Board Member of the BC Business Council, a registered planner, a member of Lambda Alpha and is developing a combined real estate and tech concept in which “the pub meets the lab” 

Lisa Spitale  (Chief Administrative Officer, New Westminster)
Lisa Spitale is the Chief Administrative Officer for the City of New Westminster. She holds a Masters degree in Planning from the UBC and is a Registered Professional Planner, with 30 years of experience. Lisa has been employed with the City of New Westminster for the past 25 years, and has held several senior management positions at the City including: the Director of Development Services managing three departments – Planning, Building Permits, and Licensing and Integrated Services; and the Director of Strategic Services. Under her leadership, New Westminster has realized unprecedented residential and commercial growth, and has helped spearhead many of the City’s most important projects and plans including the 12 time award winning Westminster Pier Park, the award winning iconic Anvil Centre and Office Tower, and the award winning Downtown Community Plan.

Hussein Hallack (General Manager & Head Mentor, Launch Academy)
Hussein Hallack is a serial entrepreneur, advisor, and speaker on inspiring entrepreneurship and unleashing breakthrough performance.  General Manager and Head Mentor at Launch Academy, Western Canada’s leading tech startup hub with more than 500 startups incubated, over $100 million raised, and 1000 entrepreneurs mentored and trained. Executive Director at TiE Vancouver. Featured in Forbes, BBC, Entrepreneur, and Roundhouse Radio.

Jonathan Cote (Mayor, New Westmisnter)
First elected in 2005, Jonathan X. Coté served three terms on New Westminster City Council before being elected as Mayor in 2014. As the Mayor of New Westminster, Jonathan has earned a reputation as a strong leader around issues such as transportation, economic development and planning.Jonathan is a Board Director at Metro Vancouver and serves on several Metro Vancouver Committees. He serves as Vice Chair of the Regional Planning Committee, a member of the Housing Committee, the Regional Homelessness Task Force, Performance and Procurement Committee and the Zero Waste Committee. He is also a member of the TransLink Mayors’ Council and is Chair of the Translink Investment Planning Committee. Before being elected, Jonathan worked in the insurance industry as a Senior Injury Litigation Adjuster and also completed his Master’s Degree in Urban Studies at SFU.
